2025 Blessing of the Hounds at Woodbrook Hunt Club

Members of the Washington Regency Society are invited to attend the annual Blessing of the Hounds service and watch the hounds and horses at work on a hunt through the grounds at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This is a no-kill hunt. No foxes or other animals are chased or killed in this event. The event includes:

  • Watching the riders and their horses tack up and prepare for the event
  • Attending/watching the traditional Blessing of the Hounds Service before the hunt
  • Helping to serve the stirrup cups before the beginning of the hunt (if one feels comfortable around the horses)
  • Meeting the exceptional hounds who follow the hunt
  • Enjoying a “hunt breakfast” which is served after the hunt returns from the field (about 2 pm)
  • Learning about hunt practices, etiquette, and history

Date: Saturday, November 15, 2025

Arrival Time:  10:30 am, Event starts at 11 am.

Finish Time is unknown as it is dependent upon the hounds and horses

Hunt Breakfast is included and will be served after the hounds, riders, and horses return and are cared for – approximately 2 pm. Two WRS members are putting on the lunch. Another WRS member is providing the handheld desserts.

Tickets are $26.50 each for WRS members in good standing. Tickets go on sale on October 4th at noon Pacific time.  Tickets for non-members are $36.50 each and if there are any left will go on sale on October 20, 2025

The hunt will take place despite the weather. There is shelter in the Woodbrook Hunt’s club-house and the adjacent tent.

Four-wheel drive vehicles are allowed to follow and observe some of the hunt as it is out in the field.

The event presents an outstanding opportunity to learn more about a popular sport for people in English society during the Regency period.

As always, appropriate period attire is greatly admired but not required. Please do dress appropriately for an outdoor event in inclement weather.
