Last month, the Washington Regency Society (WRS) invited us to don our finest Regency attire and step back into the elegance and charm of the late 1700s to early 1800s. This event was an immersive experience filled with historical costumes, delightful social gatherings, and a celebration of a trip back in time to the Regency era.

We met at Squaxin Park (formerly Priest Point Park) in Olympia, WA, which was a perfect location for a summer picnic.

Attendees arrived to a sweet surprise of picnic tables dressed up in linen with fresh flowers on the tables.

As the event progressed, you could watch in awe at all the different table setups and decorations, as well as the personal potluck picnic foods that were brought.

There were many historically inspired tables, which were elegant and pretty, complete with teapots, tea cups, china and linen napkins. This really added to the historical ambiance.

The WRS board graciously provided iced tea and lemonade for the attendees.

The park is also known for its many trails through old-growth forest. Some of the party went for a walk to the beach, which was a short stroll away. The waters were picturesque and you could take in all of the variety of greenery along the way. One might wish for a sketchbook to take the likeness of the pleasing scenery.

Thank you to all the attendees who braved the gray clouds and sprinkling of rain (which was short-lived) to spend the day celebrating summer.

The event was a lovely one, and it was nice to see old acquaintances and meet new friends!
