BUCKRAM BONNET WORKSHOP – Part I – August 24, 2019
Instructors Mary Hafner-Laney and Ruth Haring presented a class on making your own buckram bonnet frame to 10 participants at the Kirkland Public Library. Buckram, wire, binding, and flannel for mulling were provided as well as Mary’s bonnet pattern. Samples of other available patterns and finished forms in the Regency style were provided for study. A light repast of cucumber sandwiches, scones, and tea was served.
Over the 4 hour class, the participants were hard at work, and much progress was made. In Part II, (September 15, 2019) the ladies will bring their bonnet forms to the class to learn how to cover them in their chosen fashion fabric and then embellish them with ribbons, feathers, and other decorations.
